46 LASUCOM Nursing Graduates Inducted as LASU VC, NMCN Registrar Emphasise Professional Responsibility
Forty-six Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) graduates of Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) have been inducted into the nursing profession, with LASU's Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria urging them to uphold ethics, professionalism, and compassionate healthcare.

Forty-six Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) graduates of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) have officially been inducted into the nursing profession during the institution's 7th Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony.
The ceremony, held on Friday, 31st July 2026, at the Medical Sciences Building Auditorium, LASUCOM, marked another milestone in the university's commitment to producing competent healthcare professionals.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello (mni, NPOM), the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Oseni Afisi, reminded the newly inducted nurses that their certificates and professional oath represent a lifelong commitment to ethical practice and service to humanity.
According to him, the certificates are not merely academic achievements but symbols of responsibility, integrity, and dedication to the nursing profession.
Similarly, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Dr. Ndaji Alhassan, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to make the knowledge and practical experience gained during their training the foundation of their professional careers.
Represented by Dr. Umar Gambo, the NMCN Registrar described the induction as the beginning of a new professional journey, urging the graduates to embrace continuous learning, accept constructive corrections, and remain committed to professional development throughout their careers.
In his remarks, the Provost of LASUCOM, Prof. Olufemi E. Idowu, encouraged the graduates to understand that nursing extends beyond administering medications and clinical procedures.
He described nursing as a profession built on compassion, empathy, and genuine human connection, urging the new nurses to combine professional excellence with kindness in serving patients.
The Provost also appreciated the parents, guardians, lecturers, mentors, and families of the graduates for their sacrifices and unwavering support throughout the students' academic journey.
Goodwill messages were also delivered by the Chief Medical Director of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabanwo, and the Director of Nursing Services, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Nurse Adebukola O. Cole, who encouraged the graduates to continually improve their knowledge, remain compassionate, and stay resilient in the face of professional challenges.
The ceremony also recognised outstanding academic achievements.
Nr. Adeyemi O. Fatima received the award as the Overall Best Graduating Student, while Nr. Lawal Temidayo Samuel was honoured with the award for Best Performance in the Registered Nurse (RN) Examination.
The successful induction of the 46 graduates reflects LASUCOM's continued commitment to producing highly skilled, ethical, and professionally competent nurses capable of making meaningful contributions to healthcare delivery in Nigeria and beyond.
