NUC Officially Recognises Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially recognised the Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, marking a major milestone in the state's efforts to expand access to quality medical education and healthcare training.

At the official recognition ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, and the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmad, described the establishment of the university as a strategic investment in Nigeria's future healthcare system.

The federal officials commended Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, for his commitment to strengthening medical education, noting that the university will help train doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals needed to address Nigeria's healthcare workforce shortage.

Professor Ribadu praised the governor's vision and dedication to human capital development, describing the institution as a significant step towards positioning Jigawa State as a centre of excellence in medical and allied health education.

Professor Suwaiba also reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Education's commitment to working with the Jigawa State Government and the NUC to ensure the university maintains high academic standards and develops into a world-class institution.

Speaking at the event, Governor Namadi expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the National Universities Commission for supporting the official recognition of the university.

He described the recognition as a historic achievement for Jigawa State and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to providing the infrastructure, funding, manpower, and institutional support required for the university to succeed.

Governor Namadi also urged the university's management, staff, and stakeholders to remain committed to excellence, innovation, and quality service as they work towards building a leading institution for medical education, research, and healthcare innovation in Nigeria.

The recognition of the university represents another significant step towards expanding access to quality medical education and strengthening Nigeria's healthcare sector through the training of highly skilled professionals.
